  The Federal Government has created numerous federal employment laws that apply to most employers, including the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (prohibiting discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, or religion), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA). Most of these laws are enforced by federal agencies who investigate alleged violations, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Department of Labor (DOL), Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), etc. The firm is experienced in representing management clients in all federal forums relating to numerous federal employment laws.

  Texas has its share of employment-related laws that apply to most employers, including laws that relate to unemployment compensation, payment of wages, employment agreements, workers’ compensation retaliation, and discrimination (similar to the federal prohibitions). In addition, Texas common law creates several legal theories on which employees can sue employers such as exceptions to the employment-at-will doctrine, invasion of privacy, and negligent hiring or retention.
